People keep it friendly
Every room has someone looking out.
An owner, moderators and Ops look after the rooms, so conversations stay welcoming and anyone who spoils it can be dealt with quickly.
The owner can do it all: mute, remove, ban, lock or close a room.
Moderators mute for a set time, move people to the listeners, remove and ban.
Ops, appointed for a room, can mute for up to 10 minutes and remove people.

No. You can join a room as a guest after choosing an avatar and a display name. An account is optional and keeps your name, avatar and any moderator role on every device.
Yes. Live Rooms are free to use.
No chat service can promise safety. Hello Stranger is for adults 18 and over. Rooms are looked after by an owner, moderators and Ops who can mute, remove and ban people, and you can report anyone from their profile card. Reports go to a moderation queue for review. Never share sensitive personal information.
Voice and video in rooms are relayed through LiveKit, a media provider, so you connect to the room rather than directly to each person. Hello Stranger does not record audio or video. Each room keeps its most recent chat messages as room history (see the Privacy Policy).
Each room has a speaker stage for up to 15 people and a listener area for up to 15 more. You start on the stage; if it is full, you listen until a spot opens. You can step down to listen or step back up whenever there is space.
The owner and moderators start rooms. Anyone can join an open room.
Yes. Pick one of the illustrated avatars and, if you like, a gender label shown on your card. Guests can set a display name; accounts keep theirs.
